Travel to Jacmel

Jacmel is small port town on the southern coast of Haiti a few hour drive from Port-au-Prince. The road is in good condition as journalists, artist, UN peace keepers, aid workers, Christian evangelists and dictators all enjoy this sleepy town.

It is an Amazing to drive over the mountains seeing the vistas of Haiti. One sees how few trees there are in Haiti but also the stunning landscape. James particularly enjoyed seeing the stone embankments and seeing the men repairing the damaged stone drainage structures for the previous rainy season.

The road over the mountains to Jacmel snakes along steep cliffs with small houses and livestock and small terraced gardens.
